VP Shixin Opens the 2023 Asia-Pacific Forum on Green and Low-Carbon Development in Changsha, PRC

VP Shixin delivered a keynote speech at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Forum on Green and Low Carbon Development and the Second East Asia Forum, jointly organized by the provincial government of Hunan province, ADB, ADBI, and Regional Knowledge Sharing Initiative (supported by the PRC Fund), held from 20 to 22 October.

The VP stressed that four critical ingredients to any climate change action plans should include measures to accelerate the transition towards clean energy; ensuring nature is part of the solution; promoting partnerships with the private sector to mobilize climate finance and new low-carbon technologies; and deepening regional cooperation and integration to include investments in regional public goods.

VP Shixin also met with Vice Governor of the Hunan province Wang Yi Ou to discuss ways to further deepen South-South collaboration on low carbon.

Around 1,700 on-site participants attended the forums, including senior officials from 17 ADB developing member countries, international experts, and ADB staff. Four ADB-financed projects replicated within the PRC were also presented in a special session.
