Joint Efforts on Knowledge Sharing to Promote Global Poverty Reduction Governance

Over the past two decades, many low-income countries have grown into middle-income countries. Despite GDP growth, the challenge of making growth more inclusive remains. The forum discusses ways to share best practices in poverty alleviation, and will bring together more than 100 government officials, representatives from international organizations, academia, private sector, and the media. The winner list of the “Global Solicitation and Challenge Prize on Best-Practice Poverty Reduction Cases” will be released. The second call for the solicitation campaign will be launched, as well as the Chinese and English versions of “A Foreign Lens: How Global Partners View China’s Poverty Alleviation Efforts”. The forum and the campaign is co-sponsored by the ADB, China Internet Information Center (CIIC), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), World Bank (WB), and the World Food Programme (WFP).

Sharing and Promoting Cooperation, Joining Hands in Poverty Reduction

On May 23, 2018, the 2018 China International Forum on Poverty Reduction will take place in Beijing with the theme of “Sharing and Promoting Cooperation, Joining Hands in Poverty Reduction”. During the forum, ADB, China Internet Information Center (CIIC), International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and other international organizations will jointly announce the “Global Solicitation and Challenge Prize on Best Poverty Reduction Practices,” seeking 100 original and outstanding poverty reduction case studies from the PRC and other countries. As the first global campaign of such, this challenge prize aims at innovating and deepening the global partnerships on poverty reduction.

Developing and Sharing Governance Solutions to Reduce Poverty

Over the past two decades, many low-income countries have grown into middle-income countries. Despite GDP growth, the challenge of making growth more inclusive remains. The forum discussed ways to share best practices in poverty alleviation, bringing together more than 100 delegates from 7 countries, 16 international organizations, academia, private sector, and the media. The Global Poverty Reduction Online Knowledge Sharing Database, an international repository of successful innovative solutions, was launched at the forum. This database is managed by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and the China Internet Information Center (CIIC), supported by ADB, World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, and private sector partners.
